Designed as composition of simple, geometric forms, this bespoke home frames the landscape rather than compete with it Arranged as two connected rectangular volumes set along the slope, the home separates living and private zones. To the north, a glass-walled open-plan living space captures expansive views and natural light, while the more enclosed southern wing—partially embedded into the hillside—houses bedrooms and service areas. A flat roofline nods to mid-century design principles, reinforcing clean lines and a seamless connection to the environment.

Materiality plays a central role in anchoring the home to its setting. A restrained palette of natural finishes—including lime hard plaster walls and polished concrete floors with locally sourced exposed aggregate—creates a calm, textural interior that feels both grounded and contemporary. The result is a low-maintenance home that exudes warmth and simplicity.

A commitment to precision and restraint is evident in the finely detailed grid of laminated timber roof beams, executed with meticulous craftsmanship. Lined in timber, the ceiling introduces a warm, golden tone throughout, while extending outward in dramatic cantilevers to shelter and define east and west-facing outdoor areas. In the living area, a feature wood fireplace enhances the sense of warmth, and double glazing throughout ensures year-round comfort.

Large expanses of floor-to-ceiling glazing and trackless solid timber sliding doors enhance the home’s connection to the landscape, allowing light to flood the interiors while maintaining a sense of openness and flow.

The kitchen, understated and highly functional, features custom timber cabinetry running the length of the dining space—perfectly suited to both entertaining and relaxed everyday living.

Every element of the home has been carefully considered to achieve a sense of effortless simplicity. From its thoughtful siting to its refined detailing, the project reflects a disciplined approach to design and construction.
