Internally, the layout is organised into two distinct wings, connected by a central gallery that links private and communal spaces. This configuration allows for both separation and connection, with sliding glass doors providing flexibility to open or close zones as needed.
At the heart of the home, the open-plan kitchen, dining and living area balances scale with warmth. A recycled timber beam spans the ceiling, subtly defining each zone while simultaneously adding character. The kitchen is designed for entertaining, featuring generous preparation areas, ample storage and a waterfall-edge island, complemented by an adjoining bar with custom cabinetry.
The dining area connects seamlessly to outdoor living spaces, including an inground pool and putting green, while the lounge is anchored by a hand-laid natural stone fireplace.
Bedrooms and bathrooms continue the home’s cohesive palette of timber, stone and neutral tones. The master suite provides a private retreat, complete with its own fireplace, expansive views and a concealed walk-in robe. In response to the challenges of a remote, bushfire-prone setting, material selection and performance were central to the design. Externally, the home is clad in non-combustible COLORBOND Longline (Monument), paired with painted cement sheeting and accents of natural stone. Thermally broken steel-framed windows and doors enhance energy efficiency while reinforcing the home’s clean, contemporary form.
The discreetly integrated bunker further strengthens the home’s bushfire response, with the build exceeding BAL 40 requirements to deliver both resilience and peace of mind.
Delivered by Hedger Constructions, this project reflects a commitment to thoughtful, site-responsive design and exceptional craftsmanship. The result is a highly resolved rural home; one that balances durability, comfort and refined living, while responding intelligently to its unique environment
