Set into a gentle embankment and oriented to capture sweeping views across the hills of Marysville, The Glasshouse was conceived as a true showpiece home, combining striking architectural form with a refined material palette and a strong focus on functionality. Responding to its corner site and elevated outlook, the design maximises views from every angle. A steel portal frame enabled efficient construction, while the integration of large-format commercial glazing and carefully detailed connections was critical to achieving the home’s clean, precise aesthetic.
Externally, Corten steel cladding is paired with timber and natural stone, creating a layered, textural façade that sits comfortably within the surrounding landscape. Signature elements—including a porte cochère, entry bridge, expansive deck and horizon-edge pool—further enhance the home’s architectural presence.
Inside, polished concrete floors—fully insulated and hydronically heated—set the tone for a contemporary, low-maintenance interior. The open-plan kitchen, dining and living zone is both sleek and highly functional, framed by floor-to-ceiling double-glazed windows and clerestory glazing that flood the space with natural light. This connection to the outdoors is consistent throughout the home, with every room oriented to capture views of the surrounding landscape.
Accommodation is equally well considered, with generously proportioned bedrooms supported by high-quality ensuites and bathrooms, all finished with a focus on clean lines and enduring materials. The result is a cohesive interior that balances comfort with architectural clarity.
Performance and efficiency were key drivers of the build. A fully insulated slab, high-performance glazing, comprehensive wall and ceiling insulation, and zoned heating and cooling systems work together to ensure year-round comfort. Water-saving initiatives, including a dedicated storage tank, further support the home’s sustainability credentials.
Meticulous attention to detail is evident at every stage—from the precision of the plaster finishes and custom window fabrication through to the kitchen joinery and sharply defined rooflines. The seamless integration of indoor and outdoor spaces reinforces a relaxed, contemporary lifestyle, allowing the home to be enjoyed in all seasons.
