The main living space and primary bedroom are located upstairs to capture the ocean views and the guest bedroom, a second living area and service area are located on the ground floor. This statement home also boasts an in-ground pool with a lounge deck that has a custom-made safety fence featuring repurposed wharf posts. These luxurious features are complemented by the magnificent sauna, which is charmingly lined with natural cedar boards.
The upper floor of the home is flooded with natural light – a direct result of the design requirement for the floor to ceiling glazing, along with extensive areas of glass to maximise ocean views. The dramatic curved façade seamlessly transitions to a facia above the entry giving the home an exquisite appearance from outside and in. The second floor’s external walls have been finished in a polished render, and spotted gum forms an impressive external timber feature throughout the house and the rear shed. The first-floor balcony includes a carefully constructed spotted gum timber batten screen to control the west afternoon light.
Meandering outside, a central courtyard hosts a neatly manicured garden that can been seen from both levels, and this clever layout allows winter sun to warm and penetrate deep within the home’s interior. Precise and accurate craftsmanship is at the very heart of this unique design. Hedger Constructions’ minimal approach to construction detailing effortlessly conceals any visual distractions, and works to enhance a sense of calm and keep focus on the beautiful coastal location in which the home sits.
