The existing home now accommodates bedrooms and quieter zones, offering a sense of privacy and retreat, while the new extension forms a vibrant, open-plan hub for everyday living and entertaining. A newly created entry point with a bespoke Corten steel front door provides a bold and distinctive entry statement—its weathered finish adding depth and character over time. This foyer space provides a seamless transition between the two wings, connecting old and new while establishing a clear and welcoming arrival experience.

Within the extension, a generous open-plan kitchen, dining and living area anchors the home. Designed with both scale and comfort in mind, this space is defined by polished concrete floors that run throughout, delivering durability and a refined, contemporary aesthetic. An open fireplace with a substantial stone surround introduces warmth and texture, creating a striking focal point that enhances the atmosphere of the living zone.

The kitchen has been designed as both a functional workspace and a social centre, flowing effortlessly into the adjoining dining and lounge areas. This cohesive layout supports a variety of uses, from relaxed family living to larger gatherings, all while maintaining a strong sense of connection across the space.

The extension also incorporates a private master suite, complete with a well-appointed ensuite, offering a quiet sanctuary set apart from the secondary bedrooms in the original home.

Externally, the material palette reinforces the home’s contemporary identity while maintaining a connection to its surroundings. Vertical timber cladding introduces warmth and texture, while a double garage adds convenience and further enhancing the home’s practicality.

Every element of this project has been carefully considered to create a cohesive and highly liveable outcome. By balancing expansion with thoughtful zoning and materiality, the home feels both significantly larger and more connected—an elegant evolution that supports the needs of modern living while respecting the integrity of the original structure.
